Experience the full spectrum of contemporary knitwear in Maison Tricot’s three-day program. Designed for fashion schools and universities, this intensive course blends hands-on studio practice, technical insight, and real-world production exposure.
Students explore yarns, stitches, garment construction, and finishing while experimenting in the studio and visiting a professional knitting factory. Small groups ensure personalized mentorship, fostering creativity, collaboration, and practical skills. By the end, participants gain a tangible understanding of knitwear from fibre to finished garment, along with inspiration for their own design practice.

This three-day educational journey is designed for fashion schools and universities seeking to immerse students in the full knitwear process — combining creative exploration, technical insight, and real-world production context.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Day 1 — Yarns & Construction
Discover the foundation of knitwear.
Yarn Fundamentals – Learn how fiber, twist, and count shape texture, drape, and character.
Knitting Techniques – Explore the expressive power of stitches and structures.
Garment Finishing & Shape Study – Understand how form and quality emerge through construction, proportion, and finishing.
Day 2 — Studio Experience
Step into the Maison Tricot atelier.
Hands-on experimentation with handknitting machines, linking, and steaming.
Explore the tactile and creative essence of knitwear guided by Maison Tricot mentors.
Create small-scale studies and sample pieces as a collective learning exercise.
Day 3 — From Studio to Industry
Experience how knitwear moves from craft to production and market.
Factory Insight – Guided visit to Cousy, a high-end knitting factory producing for Dries Van Noten, Paul Smith, and Yohji Yamamoto.
Antwerp Design Experience – Visit the Fashion Museum (MoMu) and curated stores in Antwerp’s design district to explore presentation, finishing, and storytelling in professional collections.
OUTCOME
Students gain a tangible, real-world understanding of the knitwear process — bridging creative experimentation, technical craftsmanship, and production insight.
The program encourages curiosity, teamwork, and a deeper appreciation for knitwear’s place in contemporary design.
All participants receive 1-year access to Maison Tricot’s digital course platform and 5 follow-up email questions for continued learning.

Group size: up to 15 students (3 groups of 5, each guided by a Maison Tricot mentor)
Includes: training, materials, lunches, factory visit, museum entry, and 2 hotel nights (shared twin rooms, breakfast included)
Team: 3 Maison Tricot mentors ensure small-group, hands-on guidance throughout the program
Price: €1,100 per student (excl. VAT) → €16,500 total
Example Funding: Erasmus+ typically covers around €620 per student, meaning the net cost for schools is approx. €480 per student, including hotel and all activities.
Optional: hotel upgrades and travel coordination support (for Erasmus mobility).
